Hi All, I was wondering if you all knew of any new games or other goodies for the DS or DSi. My son is getting one for Christmas and I will get mine in the middle of January. I just want to be up to date on the newest things. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

Magical Starsign for DS, up for grabs [13 Dec 2009|12:25pm]

Hey all,

Does anyone want Magical Starsign? I've tried to sell it a couple of times with no luck, and I have no desire to play it anymore. I'd prefer to trade it for something, but at this point I'd be willing to just give it away.

In excellent condition with all artwork and manuals. Any takers?

Okay, everybody.

THIS is the reason to get a DSi. That's freakin' awesome, and a 200-point download. SO getting it!
I'm gonna draw stuff for this or something. It looks like it would be kinda choppy, what with making individual frames for the characters, but the video looks pretty smooth. The gameplay looks simple, too, but it'll be a cheap download, so I'm pretty sure I'll get it.

Thoughts?

The first DSi-exclusive DS game? KORG DS-10 Plus. [10 Dec 2009|07:34pm]

I saw this on Gamestop.com recently. To be released mid-January 2010.

One of the tidbits mentioned in the description is the following:
Optimized for the Nintendo DSi for 12-voice polyphony and to double the power of the original KORG DS-10: 4 analog synthesizer tracks and 8 dedicated drum tracks, increasing the total number of individual tracks from 6 to 12 (feature not available when used on regular DS).

So it seems that it can be played on a regular DS, but not all options would be available. This looks like the first game that has expandable features when used with a DSi, is it not?

Hopefully I didn't waste my money on buying the original Korg DS-10 a few months ago. :P

EDIT: Probably a better term is "DSi-expandable", as you can still play the game with the DS but you'll get more features with the DSi. Anyway, any thoughts on this sequel? :)

DSi Questions [10 Dec 2009|08:35am]

I have been researching the DSi, and I think I am going to ask for one for Christmas. I have a few questions, and am hoping to find some help here :)

I know that there is an SD card slot. Does the system come with a SD card? How much can it hold? Do I have the option to buy a bigger SD card if I want to be able to download more games/audio files?

And as far as internet use, I read that the DSi doesn't support websites where a flash player is required. Does anyone know of, or think there is a chance of Nintendo coming out with a flash player download for the DSi?

Lastly, I am excited for the mini games that can be downloaded. What are your favories from DSiWare? What DS cartridge games are minigames? Even as an adult, I love some of the games on Webkinz and Facebook like Farmville. Can anyone recommend any games like that, either downloadable or cartridge?

Anything else I need to know? Thanks so much! :)

(Video is spoiler city)

Anybody been able to pick up Zelda: Spirit Tracks this week? What are your impressions on the game, so far/overall? At first, I was really annoyed with the game mostly because of a certain main character's personality. It just seemed like something out of a very corny anime. However, they simmered down about an hour into the game and I could focus on actually enjoying it.

Also, I was disappointed that you could only travel on a pre-determined path (Unlike WW and PH, where you could sail on your boat almost anywhere), but I've grown to love the train now that I can enter warps. I'm currently about to enter the final dungeon, but there are so many sidequests that I want to do, first! Nintendo really wants you to travel all over the world in this game.

If I were to summarize Spirit Tracks so far, I'd say that Nintendo took Phantom Hourglass and made it a generally better game with a bit more depth. It still follows the Wind Waker timeline and is actually a direct sequel to Phantom Hourglass, so expect several references to those games, as well as puzzle and overworld design (although they have some really challenging puzzles in this game). I guess Nintendo took the opportunity to take the Split Timeline theory and put Adult Link's timeline in the home console games and leave the Young Link timeline for handhelds? I actually like that idea if that's what they're going for.
